Frequently Asked Questions

We’re an exceptional school offering public education to secondary students and tuition-based opportunities for adults and businesses. We know there will be questions about our programs, calendars, and the information and resources we have to offer our students and their families. We’ve compiled the answers to some of the questions we hear most often, so you can access information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you still have questions, please contact us.

How much do the programs at GJCTC cost?
Secondary students do not pay tuition or fees. Fees for the adult programs vary. Consult the student handbook for more information. We offer financial aid for some of our adult programs. We evaluate costs for industry training on a case-by-case basis. Contact us for more information.
Are the programs at GJCTC accredited?
Yes. Our adult education programs have received accreditation from the following: the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer’s Education and Training Commission. We also hold memberships with a variety of professional associations. See our Adult Education page for more information.
Does GJCTC accept transfer credits?
We determine transfer eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Students must submit requests for transfer credit, in writing, to the Adult Education/Workforce Development Office for consideration. We will review the request and notify the student of transfer status. Some programs do not accept transfer credits due to the structure of the curriculum.
What is GJCTC’s dress code?
We expect all students, including adult students, to dress appropriately for the educational environment. Some programs have specific dress requirements, such as clinical uniforms for nursing students or safety apparel for shop situations. Students who fail to dress in the proper safety attire or required apparel will not participate in shop and clinical activities.
Can I bring my cell phone to class?
The faculty and staff of GJCTC views students’ personal use of cell phones during class as generally disruptive and disrespectful to the class and instructor. Using cell phones during class may also pose a threat to student safety. Therefore, we prohibit personal use of cell phones during class. Students must turn phones off during class time. For more information about our cell phone policy, please read the guidelines in the appropriate student handbook, located in the quick links section of the Home page.
Are counseling services available?
GJCTC faculty and staff members recognize that students face problems outside the classroom that may affect their performance. Students experiencing any such situation should contact a staff member. We can refer students to the appropriate counseling service.
I am interested in vocational training but I’m not sure what program is right for me. Can you help?
Yes! Our specially trained admissions counselors will assist you in choosing the right career path—whether you are in high school or beyond. Contact a staff member today to get started.
